susususususususususu.....sususususususususususususu.....Seeing as its almost been a month since I updated, I figured it should be on Metrocon XD This year was much better than last, only because I was able to get involved with so many other things and take the time to visit panels that I had no idea were there last year.
Okay, so the beginning of the day of Friday, I missed. ~
Metallover130, ~
blazing-cat and her sister, and her sister's friend all had to come to work with me so we would all have transportation to Tampa. So, we didn't actually get to Metro until three o'clock, after two hours of driving and three wrong turns in one-way lanes. Yeah. It was that good.
But once we got there the five of us were bustling with life and running about in all directions. Of us, only ~
Metallover130 was in cosplay, as Shilo from Infected {her original idea was to be Seventeen Shilo, and I was going to be Infected, but she decided at the hotel that she didn't like her costume}, featured in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Friday night was the masquerade, and the night that two for the UNWorthy Heirs cast members {Sam and Londa} joined us and stayed with us for the rest of the weekend. So Friday, all we actually did was the Fantasy Masquerade, seeing as we were so taken over by other things.
So, Saturday was The Human Chess Match, which I felt paled in comparison to last year's chess match, which might have been because last year was the popping of my convention cherry. But it
was cool. Sadly, I didn't know too many of the characters, but it was interesting none the less. Waiting in line, we were lucky enough to get to interact with Mike Harrington, who was Mario for the Star Party, and earn stars with him being patient enough to deal with us getting each one of us a star before leaving. After the chess match, we were lucky enough to get to see Anime Idol, which was MINDBLOWING. Some of the girls had such beautiful voices {although one girl, Nikki, who was indeed talented, lost major crowd points by walking offstage with the final statement of "I won't lose."}. Kororo, from the Vocaloids, was sung by one girl who did very very well. <3 After Anime Idol {we were so fucking loaded on Saturday XD} Me, Sam and Londa all went to see Last Chance Myu, which was a heart-stopping tribute show to the Sailor Moon Musicals and Miyuki Kanbe {one of the Sailor Moons, who unfortunately passed away last year}. The show was amazing, and actually rekindled enough love for Sailor Moon in the cluster of us that we're deciding on maybe doing a group cosplay of the inner and outer senshi next year! After Last Chance Myu, we saw the Fairytale Theater, which was a performance of traditional Japanese legends and fairytales put together as plays - some of them were extremely interesting, although I wasn't particularly fond of their skit about the Shinto gods Susano-o and Amateratsu, only because it felt like they were breezing through the performance because of time. BUT AFTER THE FAIRYTALE THEATER CAME THE BEST THING OF ALL - one of the main reasons that Londa and Sam stayed at Metrocon - THE DOCTOR HORRIBLE PICTURE SHOW. If I could describe the entire show in the manner it deserves, deviantART would tell me my journal was too long. But their performance was only flawed by props, which all of the actors managed to work around. Their Captain Hammer was the most amazing thing in the world, and their show has inspired several casts for a Doctor Horrible Pre-Show.
Sunday, we participated in the Star Party and attending closing ceremonies, leaving Metrocon exhausted and begging for more - we're all looking forward to another great year next summer.
My spoils from Metrocon this year included: 4 commissioned art pieces featuring my character NOVA and her love interest Ean, a Senior Delf with white skin and elf ears, a wig for the delf, a handmade cape for aforementioned delf, three Sailor Moon figures, a sticker from Last Chance Myu, three Masquerade bands, aviator goggles, an original Sailor Moon wand in original Japanese packaging, a plush zombie and a bracelet for zombie awareness, a Victorian brooch, a cockroach hairclip, and a ring that looks like a brain. I was also given a gift for my birthday from ~
Metallover130, a Living Dead Doll set of Nosferatu and his victim
